What Do You Need To Prepare Before Installing A Hot Tub?

Are you awaiting the arrival of your brand new hot tub? Or are you considering opting for a relaxing tub that heats all your worries away? Then follow Jewel Hot Tubs 10 step guide on what you need to prepare before installing a hot tub.

From installation to using your new hot tub and even aftercare, Jewel Hot Tubs has all the tips and tricks to ensure that you’re prepared and happy with your new exciting purchase.

1. Location

This is the most important step to consider before installing a hot tub. As you can imagine, moving an empty tub, let alone when it’s full of water, won't be easy. It will become like a piece of furniture in your home but thinking about a permanent location for your new hot tub is a must.

2. Surface

Just like the location, you need to prepare the right surface before installing. Our expert team can advise you on resilient materials that can withstand weight and water.

Two of the most popular surfaces are concrete and composite decking. Flat and deep concrete bases are a simple and robust option. Still, composite decking from a reliable and leading supplier is also a great option if you want something more aesthetically pleasing.

3. Electricity

It seems like an obvious step, as without electricity, how will you power your hot tub? Yet, it can be a forgotten step. All of our products come with a downloadable brochure, so you can check all the specifications, but it’s worth noting that the average running of our Oasis and Sunbeach models is 32 amps.

4. Exterior

Suppose your hot tub is going to be enjoyed outside, then we have a few ways that you can prepare before installation. A clear perimeter surrounding your hot tub is the key to maintaining your tub and maximizing your enjoyment.

A nearby tree may offer shade in the warmer seasons or give you some privacy, but it can also increase your hot tub maintenance as foliage and bird droppings can find their way into your tub!

5. Access

The last thing you want is your hot tub getting stuck in doorways on that anticipated delivery day. For full delivery assistance, the Jewel team can assist you on this, but the main thing you need to do to prepare before installing a hot tub is to ensure clear access from unloading to installation. We don’t want our team to slip or worse, damage your property or new tub, so check the specifications of your model or contact our team for guidance.

6. Chemicals

Even with our expertly designed models and their high performing filter systems, chemicals are essential in maintaining the life and hygiene of your installation. A popular and most used chemical is chlorine, but there are other options that you can explore before embracing those massage jets. The Jewel team can advise you on the right chemicals and directions to help you prepare and feel confident.

7. Draining

Although you only have to drain your hot tub 3-4 times a year, considering the accessibility and ease of doing this important maintenance step is vital. The last thing you want to do is flood your gorgeous lawn or indoor space. Don’t worry though, all the information on your model's draining points can be found on the brochures, or it can be discussed further with the team.

8. Maintenance

Just like draining your hot tub, cleaning your new installation is required 3-4 times a year. By cleaning, we mean draining and deep cleaning all surface areas, jets, filters and pumps. Despite this, we do recommend keeping an eye on the water levels of your hot tub and the filters frequently, as these require a little more attention.

For advice on maintaining your hot tub, our friendly team can help you prepare before installing or even months or years after installation – we’re on hand!

9. The Right Choice

There are many reasons that people, partners or families get hot tubs. Whether you’re looking for a social spot for your family or friends, a romantic space for you and your partner, a private sanction or hydrotherapeutic benefits, there is the right model available for you. To prepare before installing a hot tub, we strongly advise you to consider how you will use it, as this will help you determine the right model.
