What’s The Difference Between a Pool and a Swim Spa?

There are lots of differences between a swimspa and a pool. While pools are big investment taking lots of time to install, swimspas offer a more compact and efficient alternative. Whether you are looking to relax, exercise, or socialise, a swimspa accommodates all of your needs. There are lots of different options on the market when it comes to pools and swim spa, so we understand it may feel overwhelming.

So when shopping for a pool or a swim spa, it’s important you know the difference between them and which one can cater to your needs.

The Experience

The biggest difference between a pool and a swim spa is the experience itself. Pools are more natural and easier to swim in. The current in a swim spa allows you to swim in one place without needing to turn around. This is unlike pools where you have to turn around at each end, making it hard to swim medium to long distances.

Another benefit is that a swim spa can be used all year round. They can be placed undercover so you can enjoy a sheltered swim. Alternatively, a swim spa can be placed outdoors but still used in winter thanks to the heating systems.

Installation Time and Hassle

Pools almost always require costly and time consuming on site work. You will likely need your outside space excavated, a deck built or concrete laid down before a pool is installed. This all takes time and costs money as it requires mapping out, permits and an installation time and that is before it has been filled in.

The average cost to install a swim spa is significantly less than that of a pool. Installing a swim spa is quicker, cleaner and will cause less disruption to your day to day life.

Size Differences

Swim spas are generally a better investment than pools if space is limited. Swim spas don’t waste as much space as pool because seats and jets are built into the structure itself. This leaves more space for loungers, a deck and a yard. This range of hot tubs has been designed to make the most of any space. There’s less wasted space around the edges of the spa for more internal room.

Many people prefer pools because they are bigger but our swim spas can accommodate up 11 people. This is ideal if you have a bigger family or like to entertain. You can enjoy all year round parties in your swim spa, in the same way, you would a pool.

When you move house, you can move the swim spa with you, and it will fit most gardens. This is something that is impossible with a pool installation.

Upkeep

Swim spas come with insulated covers which will keep heat and water inside while keeping dirt and debris outside. Swim spas require less upkeep from a homeowner and much fewer chemicals in comparison to pools.

This is because they hold less water and have high performing filtration systems. Our range includes swim spas with easy to clean in-spa filtration systems and dual high-efficient Blue Filters. They are also designed and crafted using low maintenance uPVC to ensure longevity. The low upkeep nature of our swim spas will help you save time and money.

Should I Get A Pool Or A Swim Spa?

So which is the best installation for you. Both have their own benefits, it really depends on your lifestyle needs and your personal preferences. Here are some other factors to consider:

Look at the size of your backyard, decking area or garden. If you have a smaller space, a swim spa may be the better solution. Our swim spas are space saving, meaning not a second inch is wasted.
